Inside Out

I have been on a little break from writing new posts because of other obligations but there has been a pulling on my spirit to write on this topic.  I love make up, I love fashion, beauty, getting my nails done, I mean I am a girly girl.  There is actually nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, I mean God wants us to look attractive.  But, the problem is many of us spend so much time taking care of our outside appearance but neglect our insides.  Many of our external issues such as low self esteem, acne, hair loss, etc stems from internal problems. Lack of nutrition, water, vitamins can cause many of the problems I just mentioned. But what happens when the problem isn’t just physical but emotional.  One lesson I learned is to pay attention to how I feel. Depression, anxiety, is at an all time high. Your mind will make you feel symptoms and emotions that are not real!!! I work in the medical field I know first hand.  I know the saying “If I look good, than I feel good” but that is not always the case.  It’s true when we get our hair done or get a fresh haircut it makes you feel good, but internally if you are struggling with depression or discontentment, no haircut or hairdo will give you permanent satisfaction.  Buying a new dress or new outfit will give you temporary fulfillment.

God desires for us to be whole inside and out. Actually trying to make yourself happy by keeping up with appearances will make you feel worse after time and leave your heart and pockets empty.  It will turn into a vice. A vice used to fill a void only God can fill.  Pay attention to how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally.  The brokenness that you feel can only be healed through prayer and reading God’s word.  A new boyfriend/girlfriend can’t heal you either, matter of fact it is important to deal with these internal issues before starting a new relationship so you won’t bring these issues into your new situation.

Spiritually=Read your bible, Mentally=Read your bible and talk to someone you trust, Physically=Read your bible, get regular physicals from your doctor, eat better, take vitamins, exercise (I need to work on this one, LOL).  Your body is Gods temple. It really is a mind thing, so make it up in your mind that you will take care of your self inside and out. God is always with you. He cares about everything that concerns you.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
