Where did the time go?

This post comes right on “time”, since the clock fell back one hour yesterday . Can we say Amen!? But when you have kids that hour really doesn’t  matter (inserts eye roll), but Lord thank you anyway. I have a real problem with time. How many people feel like there is just not enough time in the day? Or feel like you are doing so much, yet still feel like there is so much left to do. The bible says we should not be idle or procrastinate, to make good use of our time. Prayer in the morning is vital. God will direct you and lead you. Proverbs 16:9 “A person plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps”.

I have instances where I prayed in the morning and throughout the day became inundated with busyness, I forget to listen to God’s voice throughout the day. The day felt long, draining, and none of my plans felt like they came together. I was left frustrated. I work a full-time job so during the week it is virtually impossible to accomplish certain tasks, so  I dedicate Saturday’s to getting “tasks” accomplished.  There is nothing worst than a wasted Saturday in my eyes! Sunday, is a day of rest so after church I usually like to rest, relax with the kids and prepare for the work week. I literally felt all over the place today. A day which had a series of things to do, turned into a lazy day. I quit today lol. I went laid in bed and regrouped. But I still felt this nagging feeling like wow you can’t get this day back. As I sat still for a moment I realized where the error was. God was speaking, but I was too “busy” to hear. Yesterday at work I said Lord how do you want tomorrow to go, how should I navigate the day because I knew I had many obligations. Before I let him answer, I began planning this and planning that, all that planning lead me no where but to bed. Psalm 31:14-15 “Our times are in his hands” How much smoother would my day have gone? How much smoother would your day go? You wouldn’t always feel rushed or overwhelmed. Sometimes all we need is a few moments to be still and let God dictate your day throughout the day.  Psalm 37:23 says He delights in every detail of your life. Wow! The God of the universe wants to know about every single detail of your life, even the very small things.

I read an article on huffingtonpost.com titled “10 Words To Use Instead Of Busy”.  Look at the list below:

1. Intentionally Full
Can being busy mean that your life is rich and varied and you chose to have it that way? A lot of the things we complain about being busy with are things we intentionally and joyfully chose to bring into our lives — the houses we clean, the clothes we launder, the children we cheer on at soccer games. Sometimes we need to reevaluate how we spend our time, and sometimes it’s just about appreciating the amazing things we spend our time doing.

2. Abundant
Maybe a way to stop being busy is to realize we already have enough — enough furniture, enough clothes, enough activities.

3. Rich
See #1 and #2.

4. Engaged
When you’re busy with work, be engaged with your work. When you’re busy with your kids, engage with your kids. What often makes us feel busy is simply the sense that we should be doing something else.

5. Wholehearted
Perhaps we’re busy because there’s just so much we want to do! Do it with your whole heart.

6. Captivated
Maybe we’re busy because our current task, although necessary, feels boring and mundane.

If we practice mindfulness, we can learn to approach life with the beginner’s mind, with an open curiosity, as if we’re seeing the world for the first time. Engage with your task as if you’d never done it before — some new, previously unnoticed aspect of it will certainly captivate you.

7. Productive
Take a moment to celebrate your work and your contributions. What you do matters!

8. Resplendent
Maybe being busy is about having amazing opportunity and potential. Can you see the splendid brilliance in your current task?

9. Dynamic
Being dynamic is about utilizing energy for effective and motivated action. In physics, it’s about force and power. Instead of being busy, be dynamic — take inspired, thoughtful, effective action.

10. Excited
Change “I have to” to “I choose to,” even with things like “I have to pay these bills” or “I have to write this TPS report.” You don’t have to do anything — you choose to do it. You choose to pay the bills because you want to maintain your credit score so you can buy a new car when your current clunker dies. You choose to write the TPS report because you like your job and colleagues and want to provide for your family.

I love it! This method can be used in everyday situations where you begin to feel overwhelmed, it can change your perspective and help you handle any given situation from a different view point.
